The Economics Division is part of Stirling Management School, based at the main campus of the University of Stirling. Our research is mostly in applied economics topics, tackling policy-relevant problems, such as the Environment, Health, Labour Markets, Development, and Sports. Much of our research is interdisciplinary, aligning strongly with our established postgraduate taught programme of MSc Behavioural Science. We also have a vibrant and diverse community of undergraduate and postgraduate research economists.
We are involved in several externally funded research projects, such as:
- Wage and Employment Dynamics [Project Website] – ESRC/UKRI & Administrative Data Research UK
- CAVEAT – Triangulation of values using different valuation methods – AHRC & DCMS
- Sustainable Plastic Attitudes to benefit Communities and their Environments – Natural Environment Research Council
Journal Articles in 2023/24 from members of the Division include:
- Why wages don’t fall in jobs with incomplete contracts. Management Science.
- Hazardous human–wildlife encounters, risk attitudes, and the value of shark nets for coastal recreation. American Journal of Agricultural Economics.
- Response Bias in Survey Measures of Expectations: Evidence from the Survey of Consumer Expectations’ Inflation Module. Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
